How to fix mIRC DCC Errors:
Note: This guide is written using mIRC 7.22 and should be relevant to mIRC 7.x.
File not working after downloading ~4gb? Ensure the desitnation drive is not formatted in FAT32 and you are using mIRC 6.3 or above. Read more here.
To fix common DCC Errors, perform the
following:
1) Select Auto-get file and select minimize.
a) Open the mIRC
Options dialog (in the menu go to Tools -> Options) and navigate to the DCC
tab.
b) Select Yes when the dialog asks if you want to enable Auto-Get.
2) Ensure
mIRC's Trusted Users option is off:
b) Press the Trusted
button as shown below:
c) Disable
All the options in the Trusted Users dialog.
Your Trusted Users dialog
should match the following image:
2) Ensure Passive DCC is enabled.
a) Navigate to the
Options tab.
b) Enable
Close window on Get.
c) Enable
Passive DCC.
d) Disable
Show Warning.
Your DCC Options dialog
should match the following image:
3) Ensure
DCC Ignore is turned off:
a) Navigate to the
Ignore Tab.
b) Set
method to Disabled.
c) Disable
"Turn ignore back on in".
Your DCC Ignore dialog
should match the following image:
4) Type:
//dns $me
5) Type:
//echo -a $ip
If the IP you get from
the //echo command matches 192.168.*.*, 10.*.*.*, or is between
172.16.0.0 and 172.31.255.255, Continue to Step 6. Otherwise, continue
to Step 7.
6) If the two ip addresses are the same, then it is a firewall issue.
If you are using a
personal firewall, try checking that your mIRC application is set to
allow listening connections.
After you configured your
personal firewall, and you still cannot receive the file, consult the
guide here.
7) Your issue is likely that you are behind a NAT (connection sharing)
setup.
Many DSL/Cable modems and routers enable NAT by default.
You will have to read the manual to determine how to forward the ports
or try using a guide here.
Once you are ready to forward the ports in your router or modem,
perform the following in mIRC:
a) Open the mIRC
Options dialog (in the menu go to Tools -> Options).
b) Navigate
to Connect, Options and press
the Ports button:
c) Ensure DCC Send,
Get... is checked and write down the ports listed in "First" and "Last".
d) Ensure
all of the UPnP options are enabled with the exception of the DCC
server option.
Your Ports dialog should
match the following image:
If you are using PeerBlock or PeerGuardian try disabling when you request the file.
e) Press the OK button
to close the Ports dialog.
f) Press
the OK button to close the Options dialog.
g) In your modem or router,forward the ports listed in mIRC.
